Premier is a Case Management application which was specifically written for Employee Assistance Programs. It is a browser-based application which allows the organization to make the decision as to whether it should be made accessible over the internet.
Premier is written in ASP.NET 2.0 with Visual Basic. The application uses a third-party tool called Active Reports (version 6.0) for the creation of the reports. A runtime version of Active Reports is included with the application and does not need to be purchased separately.
The supported databases for Premier are:
* Note: Your Organization is responsible for the purchase of the SQL Server licenses.
** Note: SQL Server Express is free from Microsoft but Microsoft does pose some limitations. Please check with Microsoft for the latest on these limitations.
The application uses SQL Authentication to connect to the Database. We use a single SQL login regardless of how many users of the application there are.
The SQL login must have the permissions to CREATE tables within the database. For instance, once in the application, a user has the ability to create many different Templates pertaining to a single report and each Template is stored in its own table in the database. When a user creates a Template, a database table is created which contains all of the layout characteristics of that report. The user can also delete a Template, thus deleting the database table.
Within the application itself, there is also user level security. Each user has a User ID and Password assigned to them by the application administrator. Each user is then assigned to a Role which can restrict their privileges within the application.
Premier is designed to be run either on the company's intranet, over the internet/extranet, or on a standalone machine (with application and database residing on that single machine).
If running in a networked environment, the application and database can reside on a single server, or, the application can sit on a web server with the database residing on a database server.
Premier can also run within a virtual environment such as VMware.
The following are the general Server requirements. They may be different based on which configuration is implemented (see System Configuration).
Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2012 (32-bit or 64-bit and latest service packs recommended).
The Premier application requires a total of about 1 GB of space.
The required disk space for the database is roughly 1 GB. If there is going to be data converted into the database from a legacy system, the required disk space might need to be increased. Also, the user has the ability to "attach" documents to specific records (i.e. Client Cases, etc.). These documents are stored in the database and so based on whether this feature is used and the size of the documents, the required disk space may need to be increased.
The minimum recommended is 1 GHz or higher. As .NET server components need to be executed repeatedly by multiple users, processing power should be adequate for this workload.
The minimum required is 1 GB, or higher, as required by the installed version of Windows and/or SQL Server. It is recommended to have as much memory available as possible to benefit from the advanced caching features of the .NET Framework.
Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 or higher - required for the application.
Microsoft IIS 7.0 or later - required for the application.
Virus programs running on the same machines as web applications could cause them to reset. Virus settings may need to be looked into further.
Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8 (latest service packs recommended)
10.0 or later (Adobe is required to view reports). This is a free download from Adobe.
The recommended screen resolution is 1024 x 768 pixel or higher.
Harting EAP recommends that your organization obtain an SSL Certificate to provide additional security.
Network requirements are based on expected bandwidth utilization.
When accessing Premier over the internet, high speed access is recommended.
